Homemade Croutons

Updated: Apr 18, 2021

This is literally the easiest recipe ever! Homemade croutons are SO worth the time and are a great use for that fancy loaf of bread that you bought, ate half of, and then it got as hard as a rock. You can use pretty much any kind of bread you want and any seasoning combination that strikes your fancy. This was our favorite combination since it's just 4 ingredients and things we always have on hand.

If you have a super stale loaf of bread I recommend following the instructions in this video to make it almost as good as new!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 loaf of stale bread, cut into 1 inch cubes (approximately 4 cups of cubed bread)

  • 2 Tbs extra virgin olive oil

  • Dash of garlic powder

  • 1 Tbs of grated parmesan cheeses

DIRECTIONS:

  • Preheat oven to 400F.

  • Cube the bread into approximately 1 inch cubes and place into a large bowl.

  • Add the oil and seasonings to the bowl and toss to coat.

  • Once things are well incorporated place bread cubes onto a baking sheet.

  • Put the baking sheet into your preheated 400F oven and bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.

  • Remove from oven and let cool before use (and try not to eat them right off the tray lol).

  • Store in an airtight container on the countertop for up to a week.
